On Sunday, December 7th, 2025, the World Mission Society Church of God in Fresno, California, hosted yet another united blood drive, alongside continued partnership from the Central California Blood Center. Members participated from churches in BakersfieldSacramento and San Francisco. Amazingly, two prior blood drives hosted in Fresno Church of God and the Central California Blood Center were already carried out in 2024 and 2025.

This marked the 1743rd “Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover,” hosted by the Church of God. Blood is essential for medical procedures, surgeries, and treating illnesses like cancer and blood loss from accidents. Since blood cannot be manufactured, it must be donated, and one donation is able to save three lives.

Every two seconds, somebody in the United States needs blood, so carrying out activities such as these is essential to help save lives in the local areas.

As a result, 160 donors signed up to donate blood, 142 actual participants participated, and 116 pints of blood were able to be collected through this event. Through 116 pints of blood, 348 lives can be saved.

Blood Drive During Winter is Crucial

According to the American Red Cross website, blood donations are especially needed during the winter months. “If everyone knew how crucial blood donations are during the winter months, how many more people would participate?” says one blood donor from the event.

Through this event hosted in December, the Church of God hopes to contribute to the Central Valley’s need and goal of reaching 4,000-5,000 pints of blood per month.

Saving Lives With Blood in Relation to Eternal Life Given Through the Passover

Blood drives are common events that the Church of God hosts to share love with our neighbors. Recently, the four churches in San Francisco, Bakersfield, Sacramento and Fresno were awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award for their efforts.

According to Matthew 26:17-19, 26-28, the Passover has the promise of giving us eternal life and forgiveness of sins. This is the very feast that our Savior and Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, died for and shed his blood on the cross for.

As a way of giving back, the members hosted the blood drive to give blood to the community and save lives in the process, as a way of sharing love with their neighbors in the local community. It was also a way of putting Mother’s Teaching into practice: “As God always gives love, giving love is more blessed than receiving love.”

Performances that Touched our Hearts

Not only through the blood drive was the Church of God able to share love, but also through gracious, heart-filled performances and other activities that touched everyone’s souls.

During this event, which began at 8 am and ended at 3 pm, performances were also carried out. These ranged from dance performances, choir, orchestra, a solo singer, duet performance, and even an impressive piano show called “1 Piano 4 Hands (two people playing one piano).”

Other events, such as outside games like corn hole, basketball, and jump rope, were able to be enjoyed outside in the church courtyard. Children and adults alike had a blast getting their faces painted at the face painting booth and taking silly pictures at the photo booth.

Through this event, Church of God members hope to share the love of Heavenly Father and Mother throughout the whole world and spread awareness of the need for willing blood donors. In addition, the Church of God hopes to continue to partner with the Central California Blood Center to continue with the lifesaving cause.
