LAS VEGAS — On May 31, 2026, the vital gift of life flowed generously from the hearts of the Las Vegas Church of God community during the 1,806th Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover. Held from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Vitalant Blood Donation Center in Las Vegas, this impactful event brought together dedicated church members and volunteers who gathered with a unified purpose: to share the profound love of the Passover by donating blood, helping to save lives, and bringing renewed hope to communities both near and far.
The entire driving force behind this selfless initiative was imitate the love of God who gave us His blood through the New Covenant Passover established over 2,000 years ago and to put faith into action by exemplifying Heavenly Mother’s Teaching Number 12: “Even God came to serve, not to be served. When we serve one another without wanting to be served, God will be pleased.” Embracing this beautiful lesson of humility, the volunteers happily sought no recognition for themselves, focusing entirely on serving neighbors in critical need.
Spirit of service

The spirit of eager service resulted in a remarkably successful day, culminating in 55 precious blood donations. Because a single donation has the incredible power to save up to three lives, this collective effort from the Las Vegas church has the potential to impact and sustain more than 165 lives in the surrounding region and beyond.
The expansive reach of this love became beautifully evident when one volunteer, Mercie Davis, received a direct notification that her specific donation was being rushed across state lines to Phoenix, Arizona, to help patients in urgent need. Reflecting on the profound experience, Mercie shared, “I’m grateful to participate in blood drives with the Church of God, having donated at five events across California and Nevada. Seeing how a single donation can save up to three lives and even help communities beyond our own, such as when my blood was sent from Las Vegas to Phoenix to help patients in need, has shown me the true impact these efforts have. Knowing that such a small act can make a life-changing difference reminds me of God’s sacrifice and inspires me to continue serving others.”
Passover the example of Christ

Through these quiet acts of pure, expecting-nothing-in-return service, the members found immense joy in following the example of Christ. By stepping forward to serve the community without any desire to be served, the volunteers not only filled a vital medical need but also filled the atmosphere with a warmth that truly pleases God.
Participating in blood drives is just one of the ways the members of the Church of God follow God’s example and add deeds to their faith. Members worldwide regularly carry out volunteer activities such as environmental cleanups, appreciation concerts, emergency relief, and much more. Working together with the same heart and mind, the Church of God members display God’s glory and help bring change, hope and healing to all nations.
Looking ahead, the Las Vegas members remain deeply committed to walking in the footsteps of Heavenly Mother who always takes the lead in serving others, eagerly anticipating future opportunities to humbly serve their global neighbors, protect vulnerable lives, and spread the comforting and life-saving love of the Passover to every corner of the world.
