On December 22, 2024, the World Mission Society Church of God in 2nd San Diego hosted a remarkable event, the Southwest Region (SWR) Orchestra Hope Concert, in celebration of the Church’s 60th Anniversary and the 107th Anniversary of Christ Ahnsahnghong’s birth. The evening brought together guests, VIPs, loved ones, and SWR members for a night filled with soothing melodies and uplifting performances, inspiring hope for the new year.

As the concert began, Beau Francisco, overseer of 2nd San Diego, welcomed attendees with heartfelt remarks, setting the tone for the evening by encouraging everyone to work together for a better future and renew our perspectives through the musical performances. Master Chief Sheven Savoy of the U.S. Navy followed with words of gratitude and encouragement, commending the Church of God for organizing such an inspiring event and its social impact over the past 60 years.

Hope Concert Performances

The performances opened with Buchaechum, a traditional Korean fan dance performed by six female dancers. Moving in perfect unity, they enchanted the audience with grace and harmony.

Next came a thrilling Taekwondo performance, portraying the dynamic story of warriors rising to defend their land. The synchronized kicks, punches, and dramatic combat sequences symbolized a victorious spiritual battle, bringing exhilarating energy to the event.

Then came the light dance by five dancers adorned with illuminated wings. They danced gracefully to the instrumental We Will Be Changed in a Flash, evoking the image of flying to Heaven after overcoming spiritual trials. The ethereal performance left the audience in awe.

Hope Concert Orchestra

The evening also showcased the incredible talents of the SWR Orchestra, including members from San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles. Guests were captivated by their moving melodies, bright smiles, and harmonious collaborations in duets, quartets, octets, and choir performances. Highlights included songs like The PrayerI Reminisce About Your LoveMother Saves the World, and Carnations of Thanks. At the end of the final choir performances, the audience responded with a standing ovation, deeply touched by the beauty of the music.

The event welcomed an impressive array of VIPs, including professors, doctors, principals, teachers, and even professional athletes. Attendees expressed their admiration for the performances and congratulated the Church of God on its milestone anniversary.

Silvia, an elementary school secretary, said: “I am so happy I came. It was an amazing experience. The orchestra, the dancers—everything was so beautiful. The fan dance and the light dance were spectacular.”

D’Andre, a baseball player, remarked, “The Taekwondo performance stood out to me. I was intrigued the whole time.” Carlton, a proud father of one of the performers, added, “The female quartet singing Carnations of Thanks touched me deeply. It was so emotional. Overall, I enjoyed the entire show.”

Hope Concert Conclusion

After the concert, guests enjoyed a delightful selection of hors d’oeuvres and desserts under a beautifully lit ambiance. Attendees also captured memories at the photo booth, leaving with keepsakes to remember the special evening.

San Diego, known as “America’s Finest City,” is a vibrant melting pot of cultures, drawing countless visitors from around the world. The 2nd San Diego branch of the Church of God united with members from the Southwest Region, celebrating this climatic year-ending moment with joy and gratitude.
