ASEZ continues to make a difference, this time at Davis Community Garden in Davis, California. ASEZ, the Church of God University Student Volunteer Group, is an acronym for “Save the Earth from A to Z.” ASEZ is partnered with government officials and municipalities across the globe to accomplish the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) created by the United Nations with the goal of peace and prosperity for people of the planet.

From 10:30 am to 12 pm, more than 25 members from the World Mission Society Church of God ASEZ volunteer group cleaned up the Davis Community Garden. The Community Gardens are known for welcoming outdoor community space and focus on sustainable and organic gardening, learning, and teaching.

SAVE Movement

S.A.V.E movement, which is the main activity of ASEZ, is carried out in four different areas: S for Social Service, A for Awareness Raising, V for Victim Relief, and E for Environmental Protection. Davis Community Garden is doing its part to preserve and teach about sustainable gardening. Likewise, ASEZ raises awareness by improving the local environment through continual campaigns, education programs, and forums. Last year ASEZ held a global forum for sustainable cities in Peru discussing various topics for a sustainable environment.

Impact On the Community

The work carried out in just over an hour at the Davis Community Garden would have taken the public works department over a month to accomplish. This speaks volumes to the work ethic and motivation ASEZ volunteers must have to better their communities. Now Davis community members can enjoy a more peaceful environment clear of trash and debris.

Partnership Formed

Due to the success of the clean-up, the Public Works Department was keen to partner for future projects and initiatives. In Kelly Davis’s words of the Public Works Department, “I believe that this event was so successful because ASEZ volunteers are so professional and easy to work with. I cannot wait to work in the future with this organization again.”

Achieving the United Nations SDGs is one of the biggest aims and challenges of humanity that we must complete by 2030. Anyone can sign up to support the global activities of ASEZ.
