Since its establishment, the Church of God in San Jose has been dedicated to enhancing the well-being of its local community through a wide array of volunteer activities and community service initiatives. These initiatives showcased our relentless commitment to making a positive impact on our beloved San Jose community. These initiatives included:
1. Glenview Park Clean Up (November 2022):
– In this project, we mobilized 150 volunteers from the Church of God. Their collective effort was focused on beautifying Glenview Park, situated in San Jose’s District 10.
2. Riverview Park Cleanup (August 2022):
– We organized volunteers from our congregation to clean up Riverview Park, located in San Jose’s District 4.
3. Riverview Park San Jose Adopt-a-Park Adoption:
– Our dedication to this park was profound. Church volunteers invested 20 hours of service weekly to maintain Riverview Park, leading to the church’s adoption of the park through the city of San Jose.
4. Coyote Creek Clean Up (July 2023):
– A group of 70 dedicated Church of God volunteers came together to clean up Coyote Creek and Lone Buff Park, which is positioned in San Jose’s District 7.
5. San Jose City CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Completion (June 2023):
– Eighteen of our dedicated volunteers completed 21 hours of rigorous disaster prevention training. They are now certified members of the emergency response team, ready to assist the community in times of crisis.
6. Blood Drive (December 2022):
– In this event, an impressive 200 volunteers from the Church of God gathered and donated blood. This act of selflessness had a profound impact, with each donation potentially saving up to three lives and benefiting approximately 600 patients in need.
Glenview Park Clean Up

They demonstrated their willingness to take action and contribute to the well-being and welfare of their fellow citizens. This unwavering dedication closely aligned with the values and vision of State Senator, Dave Cortese.
The Senator’s office responded with enthusiasm, expressing their interest in recognizing the efforts carried out by the Church, with a commendation. The members from the World Mission Society Church of God in San Jose were able to have a meeting with their local Senator, Dave Cortese, to share many volunteer service events conducted by the church. By having this meeting, the Church of God in San Jose received an award of recognition from the Senator’s office for all the dedication they put forth to maintain, beautify and serve the San Jose area.
The meeting was a crucial milestone for the members there in San Jose as it allowed them to discuss their initiatives and their real-world impact in more depth. It marked a significant step in their collaborative efforts with their local government. Together with Senator Cortese’s office, the Church of God members worked toward officially recognizing and celebrating their community service initiatives. It was a story of determination, collaboration, and a shared vision for a better community, demonstrating what can be achieved when organizations unite for a common good.
