July 23, 2023 (San Diego, CA) – With summer break winding down and students gearing up for a new school year, it seemed like the perfect time for ISBA (International Student Bible Academy) members from the 1st and 2nd San Diego churches of God to gather together for an end of summer excursion camp.
ISBA members and their guests met bright and early at the Coronado Tideland Park to share breakfast and take in the beautiful scenery of Coronado Island. After praying together in unity, all attendees stood together for a group picture, capturing their excitement for the day.
It is said that the weather is always a perfect 75 degrees in San Diego, so it was very fitting that the first activity of the day was kite making. Using wooden dowels, string and a little bit of ingenuity, both novice and experienced kite makers worked together to make their very own aerodynamic creations. A few test flights, tweaks and adjustments were made, before several kite races were held. Taking advantage of the sunny afternoon, participants enjoyed the friendly competition and learned the importance of timing and being quick on your feet–two skills that would prove to be essential for the day’s next activity, an epic game of kickball.
Students wasted no time dividing into teams and spreading out across the outfield. The common schoolyard game added even more excitement to the fun-filled day, enhancing the unity and joy between members.
Following an afternoon lunch at the park, the fun continued with a game of tug-of-war and a giant jump rope. Water balloons provided a cool way to beat the heat and a relay race, which included beach balls and rubber duckies among other things, was also prepared for the ISBA students to enjoy.
At the end of the event, many students were thankful for the time they got to spend together before heading back to school and their studies. Wanting to share this joy with others, they look forward to actively carrying out the ISBA mission in their respective schools and spreading the love of Heavenly Father and Mother.
