ASEZ WAO, “Heart-to-Heart” Relay – Delivering Mother’s Heart to 13 Fire Stations

In Southern California, wildfires run rampant in the dry months from July through October. Due to climate change, the fire season is said to have lengthened all year round. In 2020 alone, the State of California reported a total of 4.3 million acres burned, with the largest fire occurring in August of that year, consuming more than 1 million acres of land and lasting until November.

The ASEZ WAO young adult worker volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God began their worldwide “Heart to Heart” relay from November to December 2020. This was a perfect opportunity to express appreciation to all the hardworking firefighters who work tirelessly day and night to quell the never-ending wildfires.

The Orange County chapter of ASEZ WAO united together on November 22, 2020, to deliver Mother’s love to 13 fire stations throughout Orange County. The volunteers wrote heartfelt cheer-up messages on cards, which they delivered along with reusable bins stocked full of antibacterial cleaning supplies for use to combat COVID-19. The ASEZ WAO volunteers also delivered stacks of delicious pizza for the firefighters to enjoy with the hope that they could feel the comfort of a mother who always serves food to her children. Through the handwritten cards, the volunteers expressed their sincere gratitude and let the fire fighters know that they were greatly appreciated for their courage and dedication during such a tough year of fighting wildfires, even during the pandemic.

The Fire Authorities who received the aid said that they were greatly touched by the bright smiles on the faces of the ASEZ WAO volunteers who delivered the supplies and encouraging notes. They said it was really good to be recognized by young people in the community and they hope ASEZ WAO continues to grow and make an impact on many young people throughout the community and the world.
