On a crisp and sunny Sunday morning, the members of Las Vegas Zion and its branch Church, Henderson Zion, embarked on a mission to undertake a community cleanup initiative at Morrell Park in the Henderson area. On November 12, 2023, over 100 volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God in Las Vegas gathered to undertake a community cleanup initiative at Morrell Park in Henderson.

Spreading the Love of Mother: A Commitment to Henderson’s Community

This selfless initiative aimed to spread Mother’s love to Henderson’s citizens, emphasizing the church’s dedication to serving the local community. In Morrell Park, a popular family destination, daily visitors gather, including families seeking peaceful outings, bikers enjoying scenic trails, sports enthusiasts engaging in friendly games, and pet owners relishing open spaces. However, this event surpassed being a mere display of goodwill; it involved hands-on efforts to beautify every corner of Morrell Park. With determination and a promise to help, Church of God members removed graffiti, cleaned up litter, and made the playground look new. Collaborative efforts transformed Morrell Park, leading to significant improvements and creating a cleaner, more inviting environment.

Hands-On Beautification

In a great team-up, The World Mission Society Church of God worked together with Get Outdoors Nevada, a group that helps volunteers in southern Nevada. The impact was evident as volunteers collected a substantial 500 pounds of trash. This showed how much the volunteers cared, and it reminded everyone that we all need to help keep public places clean.

Desiree, one of the volunteers, had this to say about the event:

“This clean-up was such an amazing event. I care for my nephew and one of the things we like to do is go to the park. He loves going down the slide which can be very dirty. I took it upon myself to focus on the playground where most kids go to have fun and touch many things. I was thinking about my nephew but also the whole community and how they can enjoy a clean park. Having the mind of Mother, thinking of others before myself and how others will enjoy it made me joyful to serve my community.”
