October 29, 2023 – On Sunday morning, nearly 200 Church of God members from all over LA, Ventura, and Santa Barbara County arose to carry out the “7,522nd Worldwide Cleanup Campaign.” Targeting Torrance Park, they demonstrated the power of unity and collaboration. The church members were joined by Mayor George Chen, Torrance City Council Members Asam Sheikh and Sharon Kalani, along with representatives from the offices of California Legislative Assembly member Mike Gipson and California State Senator Ben Allen.”
The Heartbeat of Strength Lies in the Harmony of Unity and Love
From 8 am to 12 pm, our dedicated volunteers wholeheartedly collected nearly 25,000 gallons of trash. Despite the challenges of picking up litter, weeding, and gathering foliage, the radiant joy among our members shone through. The Torrance City Councilman Asam Sheikh couldn’t help but express his awe at witnessing the collective spirit. With a genuine smile, he remarked, “Look at all the volunteers with smiling faces; that’s what matters!”
Prior to the cleanup, the church received certificates of recognition and appreciation from Torrance City, the California State Senate, and the California Legislature. Elected officials expressed their gratitude for the volunteers’ efforts, done with the spirit of love.

Revealing the motivation that made this work possible, member Jacob Martinez of Torrance commented, “You can really see how the Church of God loves the community they serve.” Joel Aguilar of Santa Maria, who drove three hours to participate in the event, added that “we couldn’t help but come out and share the love that was given to us.”

The Torrance Church of God hosted the event, and eager members from Los Angeles branch churches like Santa Maria, Oxnard, Reseda, West Covina, Burbank, Hollywood, Culver City, and more joined forces with them. World Mission Society Church of God has held thousands of cleanup campaign branches worldwide, with more anticipated in the future.
