Garden Grove, CA (August 27, 2023) – One of the things that makes the World Mission Society Church of God so special is the love and unity of the church members. Since the Church of God’s founding in Korea in 1964, it now resides in over 175 countries and has more than 3.5 million registered members. This rapid growth can surely be contributed in part to the love that continuously overflows from within and spreads beyond borders.
United Nations
To highlight the diversity and unity shared amongst the members from all different backgrounds and walks of life, the Church of God in Garden Grove held an “Around the World Culture Event.” The event featured food and games from six countries: Mexico, Ghana, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. Members and guests were able to travel from booth to booth experiencing the local delicacies and culture of each nation.
The United Kingdom booth featured afternoon tea with various traditional teas on display. The Philippines booth served delectable lumpia and buko pandan. Booth attendants not only served food, but dressed in traditional garments as well. At the Korean booth, members wore elegant and flowing hanbok. At the Ghana booth, one member was adorned with a beautiful duku head wrap. All the members took great pride in sharing their cultural heritage with one another. In return, many members were able to foster a more united mind through the shared experiences.
All Parts of One Body in Christ
Normally, it is not easy for people to look beyond their differences and be united. However, through the love of Heavenly Father and Mother, all members of the Church of God make efforts to recognize each others differences as unique strengths that contribute to a healthy global family.
“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”
1 Corinthians 12:12 (NIV)
Apostle Paul described the unity and diversity of the early church as the various parts of the body working together. In the age of the Holy Spirit, it is the mission of the Church of God, not only to be united, but to lead all nations to the truth of salvation through the New Covenant established by God.
With a mind of unity and love we hope all people will come to feel peace and fellowship in the Church of God.
