Church of God, 2024 Mega Blood Drive at Shrine Auditorium
On Sunday, April 28, 2024, the World Mission Society Church of God hosted it’s annual blood drive in Los Angeles, California. The event was held at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and worked closely with Lifestream Blood Bank once again.
Shrine Auditorium, which is widely regarded as one of the centers of entertainment in the Los Angeles area. The venue is well known for hosting events such as The Grammy’s, The Emmy’s, and The Academy Awards, among many others.
The purpose of this event was to help save lives due to the ongoing blood shortage. Currently, local offices announced a severe shortage in blood donations all throughout Southern California. The American Red Cross announced such a shortage in January of 2024 and that the number of people giving blood is at its lowest in 20 years.
Through this mega blood drive, the church hosted the largest one-day blood drive in LA with over 1,100 donors. Members of the World Mission Society Church of God will travel from all through California, Nevada, and Arizona to participate in this event and save lives by donating blood.
1,080 pints collected / 3,240 Lives saved
Hear what people had to say about the Mega Blood Drive
We use about 16 million products a year in US and we use 29,000 pints of blood every day. There is no science at this point that can produce blood products. On behalf of all the patients and doctors we want to thank volunteers for donating and giving the gift of life. I want to give a shoutout to the World Mission Society Church of God for the huge volunteers, your time. This is truly the best gift of life. Keep it going.
Dr. Frank Yamanishi Chief of Surgery Kaiser Permanente, Fontana CA
Well this is the 10th year that we have been partnering with the WMSCOG. It's been a fabulous partnership. It’s absolutely amazing. It would be the largest blood drive on record for LifeStream. We are blessed to be part of a wonderful organization and a partnership. Together we are connecting patients and donors and saving lives. The patients these donors are helping, they may never meet them. But it's a matter of giving something to themselves to someone they may never meet. Just the amount of work and support that the organization has given LifeStream is amazing and it's a partnership that we want to continue and continue to grow…Thank you guys so much for the partnership. We can't do it without you.

I really want to thank all you here. Everyone is volunteering, everybody who is donating, any role you played. This really makes such a difference for the patients. You do enable life; we do treatments that wouldn't be possible unless people donated blood. What you do is just wonderful. I’m at a loss for words. I’m just so impressed. This is a huge blood drive. I've never seen such a large event, it’s so impressive you should be proud of yourselves.

Thank you for your incredible commitment to serve both locally and globally. Most recently your efforts to organize the largest one day blood drive in Los Angeles, galvanized 1000 donors, making a difference. Thank you for always stepping up to meet tangible needs. Congratulations on your anniversary and here's to many many more years of success!

It’s a beautiful event. I've met so many great people and I'm just kind of blown away by all the love you have. I couldn't be more thankful to be a part of it.

I would like to thank the Church of God for being able to host this blood drive. I think you folks are doing tremendous work with the emphasis on volunteerism, which I’m very impressed. It’s very satisfying to see the donors save lives. Again I want to thank the Church of God for hosting this very large event.

Just as Christ gave us his flesh and blood through the Passover of the new covenant, donating blood is a very selfless act following in the footsteps of Christ. It’s a beautiful cause seeing so many beautiful faces of our members who are eager to share the love of God.

We focus on climate change, crime reduction, and carry out community service as well as respond to disaster relief. We also carry out many activities to actively make a change in our society. I’m honored to be a part of it.
Beau Alaniz, Church of God, Chula Vista
This is such an incredible event. This is something very important. One pint can save a lot of people. This is a very simple thing that we can do to make a meaningful contribution to people who are in great need of medical assistance with blood.
