Anchorage, AK (November 18, 2024) – ASEZ WAO, an international young adult volunteer group from the World Mission Society Church of God, continues supporting their community with their latest initiative to end hunger, Food Sorting & Packing.
This heartfelt event, hosted in partnership with the Food Bank of Alaska, brought together over 20 passionate volunteers from various locations across the United States, including Los Angeles, Sunland, Cerritos, Phoenix, Escondido, and San Diego.
Held on the evening of November 18, 2024, the volunteers gathered in Anchorage from 5 to 7 PM with a shared purpose: to help sort and package food for underprivileged families, children, and the elderly. Currently, 1 in 8 Alaskans, including 1 in 6 children, struggle with hunger. The collaborative efforts sought to accelerate the distribution of food to those facing challenges due to shortages and economic hardships in Alaska.
A Unified Effort to end hunger
Volunteers worked in harmony to organize supplies, accomplishing in a few hours what could have taken days. Their dedication did not go unnoticed. A Food Bank of Alaska representative praised their efforts and expressed hope for future collaborations, emphasizing the meaningful impact of their contribution on the lives of Alaskans in need.
ASEZ WAO’s efforts were met with gratitude and appreciation, as the Food Bank of Alaska presented the group with a Certificate of Appreciation and a congratulatory note celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Church of God.
Personal Reflections on the Experience
For many volunteers, the experience was both inspiring and humbling.
“Thanks to Father and Mother, the Food Bank volunteer service with ASEZ WAO was such a fun and exciting experience,” said Anchorage member Zion Ballou. “It felt truly fulfilling, and I became so much more connected to the community. Watching everyone come together with the same goal really showed me how much we can accomplish when we work in unity to support each other.”
Darlene Palkovic from the 2nd San Diego church echoed these sentiments, highlighting the joy and camaraderie among participants. “Everywhere you looked, all the volunteers were smiling and laughing. The Food Bank organizer was astonished, sharing that he had never seen such a large and efficient group. Our participation made a direct impact on people’s lives. I give thanks to God for allowing me to be part of this blessing.”
Hope and Gratitude for the Future
The Food Sorting & Packing event serves as a testament to the power of unity and selfless service. By working together, ASEZ WAO volunteers made a significant impact on the local community, ensuring that essential food supplies reached those who needed them most.
As the event concluded, the participants left with a deeper sense of purpose and a shared hope to continue such initiatives. Everyone can support ASEZ WAO by going to their website and signing a pledge of support.
