TORRANCE, CA – June 29, 2025 – Vibrantly blending teaching, art, and interactive games, the Church of God hosted an engaging event titled “The Art of the Game.” Members, guests, and volunteers gathered at the Torrance location to explore the biblical message of discerning truth from falsehood.

Based on a parable spoken by Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago—the parable of the weeds and the wheat—the event revealed the difference between the true teachings of God and the false ones that often appear deceptively similar.

The event began with a presentation titled “Weeds and Wheat,”, which illustrated the spiritual significance of distinguishing between true believers (the wheat)and falsehood (the weeds).

“Millions of people are following what they think is right in the eyes of God, when in actuality they are following falsehood,” shared volunteer Anthony Soto. “As we are able to know the truth, we should share it with the rest of the world so that they are able to come to the true church.”

Express your understanding

Following the presentation, guests were invited to express what they had learned through a painting activity inspired by the parable. This unique approach offered an emotional and artistic outlet for reflection. Dee, a member of the church, shared that the experience helped him imagine the parable more vividly. “I created,” he said with a smile, “and I can truly imagine the scene in the parable of the weeds and wheat.”

Afterward, a lively game session modeled after Jeopardy took place, where teams competed to answer questions based on the earlier presentation. Laughter, cheering, and friendly competition filled the room as guests and members demonstrated how much they had absorbed. The interactive game not only solidified their understanding but also brought everyone together in a spirit of joy and unity. “It got intense,” member Josey Galvan noted, “but it was beautiful to see how much knowledge they gained during the presentation.”

Memorable yet spiritually meaningful

Guests expressed heartfelt gratitude for the experience. Jacky Chavez, who attended the event after being invited by a friend, shared her thoughts as she left, “I learned about the weeds and wheat. I did not know that God’s teachings were interpreted by Him in that way.” She also expressed a desire to understand the Bible more deeply.

From thought-provoking messages to collaborative activities, “The Art of the Game” left attendees feeling uplifted and enlightened. The blend of scriptural teaching, creative expression, and fellowship made the event not only memorable but spiritually meaningful. One participant summed up the entire experience in just two words: “Exciting and refreshing.”
