On Sunday, December 29, 2024, the World Mission Society Church of God ASEZ WAO carried out a food sorting and packing event with the local Community Outreach Center. ASEZ WAO is a young adult worker volunteer group that helps with campaigns for humanity and the Earth, ranging from emergency relief to climate change responses.

This event included members from the Sunland, Pasadena, and Montebello churches and took place from 11 am to 1 pm in Sun Valley, California. Approximately 40 volunteers gathered on Sunday morning in an effort to help the Community Center organize the materials to hand out to people in need.

With many local residents in need of food and clothes, the volunteers gathered to help sort and package various items in order to help the community center distribute the food efficiently. Since many are experiencing hunger or financial hardship, receiving items such as food and other supplies helps to alleviate their immediate needs.

With the food donations, the residents can redirect their finances and resources to other things in hopes of having a better lifestyle.

The volunteers put forth the teaching in the Bible in Matthew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Recently, ASEZ WAO in Anchorage, Alaska, also held a similar event with the Food Bank of Alaska. In turn, they received a Certificate of Appreciation due to their volunteer work with the food bank.
