On September 16, 2024, members of two local churches from Las Vegas and Henderson gathered at Fyfe Elementary School for a special event. Beginning at 10:00 AM, 40 volunteers, including ASEZ STAR students and members of the World Mission Society Church of God, dedicated their day to improving the school’s landscape.
The goal was simple yet profound: to glorify God through service by cleaning, weeding, and gardening at the campus. The Las Vegas Valley is known for its harsh desert climate, which can quickly overgrow school grounds if left unattended, especially given budget constraints and the lack of volunteer resources. ASEZ STAR students, however, were determined to show Mother’s Love to the students and staff of Fyfe Elementary through their efforts.
While many students in Las Vegas might have used the “staff development day” for personal time, the ASEZ STAR volunteers chose to spend their day off transforming the campus. This meaningful act aimed to uplift the nearly 500 students and faculty attending Fyfe Elementary, providing them with a beautiful and safe environment.
ASEZ STAR: A Day of Gratitude and Inspiration
The efforts of the volunteers did not go unnoticed. Faculty members were deeply moved by the selflessness displayed by the youth. Principal Mrs. Lucero expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying:
“I am standing before you today to say how blessed I am to have the World Mission Society Church of God ASEZ STAR here representing the community… I just want to say my heartfelt gratitude to the World Mission Society Church of God for uplifting our students, uplifting our community, putting God in this world and making God seen in our children, in our families, amongst our community, and in our schools. So, thank you, thank you so much for being a part of this beautiful day, and God bless you!”
The day’s impact was not only felt by the faculty but also by the volunteers themselves. Ms. Tamanaha, another faculty member, shared her appreciation for the youth’s dedication:
“I just love seeing how the youth is creating value by helping out in our community. What they’re doing is really special. It’s nice to see youth doing something positive.”
Small Actions of ASEZ Star
This event showed how the actions of a small group can have a large impact on a community. Fyfe Elementary, is often overlooked due to budget constraints, was given a fresh, new look thanks to the efforts of the ASEZ STAR students. The event was more than just a beautification project—it was an opportunity to reflect God’s love and care for the community, a testament to what can happen when faith and service come together.
