Honolulu, HI — The World Mission Society Church of God in Honolulu commemorated its 60th anniversary with a blood drive on June 30, 2024. Hosted at the Blood Bank of Hawaii, this event not only marked a milestone for the church but also celebrated the selfless act of blood donation, saving countless lives in the process.
The occasion marked the 1506th worldwide blood drive organized by the World Mission Society Church of God, aligning with their mission to spread love and hope through acts of kindness. Participants, motivated by the love God the Father and God the Mother have showed, arrived eager to contribute to this noble cause. The Church of God has a long standing commitment to sacrificing for the greater good as demonstrated recently in Los Angeles through a mega blood drive.
Under the banner of World Blood Donor Day, recognized globally for its 20th anniversary, the event was a fitting tribute to the donors who have made a difference over the years. The theme, “20 years of celebrating giving: thank you blood donors!” resonated deeply with attendees who understood the profound impact of their contributions.
At the Young Street Donor Center, the efforts of the World Mission Society Church of God did not go unnoticed. A total of 34 pints of blood were collected, potentially saving up to 102 lives—a testament to the generosity and commitment of the church and its supporters. President and CEO Kim-Ahn Nguyen, MD, PhD, of the Blood Bank of Hawaii, personally recognized the church’s dedication, emphasizing their role as a vital part of Hawaii’s community health efforts.
Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi further underscored the significance of the occasion by presenting a proclamation, acknowledging the church’s exemplary service to the community. This recognition highlighted not only the church’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian causes but also its integral role in fostering a culture of giving within Honolulu.
As the world celebrates World Blood Donor Day, the church’s efforts stand as a powerful reminder of the impact each individual can make through simple acts of generosity. Their legacy of giving life through the love of the Passover shines brightly, reaffirming their commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
