CAMP CEDAR CREST, CA – Following in the footsteps of Christ Ahnsahnghong, the annual summer camp organized by the World Mission Society Church of God in the Southwest region was held this year from August 19 – 22, 2024. Nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains, the location was ideal for members to break away and refocus their hearts and minds on God. This year being the 60th Anniversary of the Church of God, it was a great time for members to understand the great achievement of Church of God with 3.7 million member and established in 175 countries.
Day 1: God’s Dream
The first day commenced with an opening ceremony entitled God’s Dream, where members from California, Arizona, Nevada, and even as far as Hawaii and Alaska gathered to hear the words of God and unite with fellow gospel workers. Led by overseers from each local church, the day set the tone for making God the center of faith.
Day 2: Bible Studies
As the sun rose on day two, attendees delved deeper into the scriptures, learning the prophecy of Esther, God’s gospel, the church bought with God’s own blood, and God who wins our hearts. The bible studies in the church of God are different because the standard of judgment between right and wrong is not a church’s doctrine or a person’s opinion but based only on the Bible.
Day 3: Spirited Sports
Day three unfolded in excitement, with unity games and spirited sports competitions fostering bonds among members. The evening culminated in an exciting bonfire, where skits prepared by enthusiastic members evoked laughter and reflection. Amidst the crackling of the flames and laughter, s’mores were shared, adding a sweet touch to the fellowship.
Final Day
The final day of the camp unfolded with a profound study of Apostle Paul’s gospel journey, offering insights into faith and perseverance. Pastor Enoch, delivering the closing ceremony, tied together the week’s lessons of love and unity, encouraging everyone to endure until the end and become like-minded.
Reflecting on the camp, many members shared beautiful realizations they received throughout the camp. Joshua, from the Church of God in Mira Mesa, realized that “what separated the 5 wise virgins from the 5 foolish is the preparations they made during difficult times”. Frank, from the Church of God in Temecula, realized “if we all rise together, preach the love of God, and help others understand the sacrifice of God, we can go to heaven very soon.”
Indeed, the summer camp of the World Mission Society Church of God stands as a testament to the power of faith and unity. As attendees departed, hearts were full, spirits lifted, and a renewed sense of purpose ignited. Here’s to another year of spiritual growth and cherished memories under the guiding light of Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother’s wisdom.
