On Sunday, December 21st, 2025, churches from Southern California held a concert in Los Angeles to honor veterans, active-duty military members, and first responders. The concert celebrated America’s Heroes, honoring their sacrifices and offering encouragement for their dedication to both their country and their communities.

The Celebrating America’s Heroes concert was held at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles. The theater was filled to capacity, welcoming 300 attendees, including church members and more than 120 invited guests.

Tribute to America’s Heroes

As the event commenced, Attendees were shown an introductory video about the World Mission Society Church of God. Pastor Miquel, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, then delivered an opening address filled with inspiring and encouraging words. The hosts for the evening Razel and Raquon, warmly expressed their appreciation to all the guests and joyfully introduced each performance by the Southwest Region choir and orchestra.

Memories that stay with us forever

The performances began with a quartet the Star-Spangled Banner and Amazing Grace, bringing comfort, hope, and grace to the audience. The orchestra then performed the graceful melodies of Merry-Go-Round of Life, reminding the guests to find beauty in motion and meaning in the moments that refuse to stand still.

The full Go the Distance, from the Disney film Hercules, a performance that expressed perseverance, hope, and the heart that always guides us home. Afterwards they sang Goin’ Home capturing the longing for rest, belonging, and the place we call home.

Next a male duet joined by the full male choir performed an a capella rendition of Nearer, My God, to Thee. The song conveyed a universal longing to draw closer to God, to find comfort in His presence, and to seek guidance and peace even in life’s most challenging moments.

The female quartet and female choir performed You Raise Me Up. Through this performance, the audience felt the power of encouragement, faith, and love – reminding everyone of the strength we gain when we lift each other up, especially in moments when we feel unable to stand on our own.

Afterwards, the male octet performed American Medley, a piece that reflects the spirit and history of our nation. The performance served as a reminder of who we are and who we aspire to be.

Next, the male and female offers joined with the choir in a joyful performance of Amigos Para Siempre, which means “Friends Forever.” The song expressed the bonds of friendship, the joy of connection, and the memories that remain with us forever.

Lastly, the event concluded with God Bless the USA, performed by the male quartet, choir, and orchestra. Filled with American pride, the performance reminded the audience that no matter where we go or what challenges we face, there is truly no place like the land we call home.

Honored Through Melodies

As the final performance concluded, the audience erupted into applause and rose for a standing ovation. The full choir and orchestra brought the event to a heartfelt close with a powerful “We Love You,” leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. Among the guests were:

  • Ron Mahay – Retired MLB player who played for the Boston Red Sox
  • Rashad Grisby – Captain, Los Angeles Fire Department, Station 41
  • Michael Attar – Vice President of Global Finance & Business Development at NBCUniversal
  • Newton Mayenge – Award-winning HBO actor known for his role Portraying NBA player Jim Chones
  • Mark Schroeder – Chief, Los Angeles Fire Department

Captain Rashad Grisby expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the support of the Los Angeles community and for the recognition and celebration of first responders’ service and dedication.

Another guest, Mr. Nguyen, who was a former Major General, was very touched by the event and stated that it was one of the best concerts he had attended.

Bringing Honor to God

Through this gracious event, many attendees learned about the World Mission Society Church of God and its continued efforts to support the community, the nation, and the world. The glory of God Elohim shone brightly throughout the concert as members of the church of God worked in unity to make the event both meaningful and honorable.

The World Mission Society Church of God will continue to support America’s Heroes through future concert events community volunteer services initiativ, and other outreach efforts.
