ASEZ WAO Book Drive
On March 3rd, 2024 members from ASEZ WAO gathered for a book drive in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County and the Inland Empire. More than 50 volunteers and guests gathered at City Hall in Temecula, CA. The goal was to raise 300 books; however, this goal was greatly exceeded when 2000 books were donated. While supporting the Big Brothers Big Sisters ASEZ WAO accomplished the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #4 which aims to address quality education.
Many activities were planned for kids and guests, including, face painting, bookmark making, balloon animals, and plenty of delicious snacks. The atmosphere was filled with joy and laughter throughout the day. In Galatians 4:28 the bible says, now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. The name Isaac means “one who laughs.” Guests were amazed by the professionalism of the volunteers and the scale of the event.
Special Guests attending
Mr. Jonathan Ingram, former Mayor of Murrieta and a big supporter of the Church of God expressed his amazement at the event and said that “these types of events are crucial and loving each other is important.” Mr. Ingram even took time to read to the children.
Commissioner Eric Faulkner, chair of the Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Commission thanked everyone for inviting him to attend and was appreciative of ASEZ WAO’s efforts “to make sure literacy is a priority in our community.” He plans to attend future events of ASEZ WAO and looks forward to working further with the organization.
The event was even blessed with having children’s book authors Robbie Adkins and Melissa Webb. They took time to read to the children and share their support for ASEZ WAO to plant hope for the future.
Crystal Joseph, Director of Resource Development & Events for Big Brothers Big Sisters said they service over 4000 youth throughout the whole tri-county region and the books donated would be delivered throughout the community.
