TORRANCE, CA – Burnout, an occupational phenomenon occurring worldwide, as well as energy depletion, exhaustion, and stress, were contemplated in the hearts of the Church of God members, who hosted the event “Boba & Canvas” for their coworkers. A live instruction painting session, accompanied by subdued melodies, as well as delicious boba drinks and appetizers, allowed workers to enjoy a thoughtfully planned, serene atmosphere and even a sense of momentary peace, on this special Sunday afternoon in June.
Considering How to Cheer Others Up Despite Busy Work Life
Behind such a gracious event were the young adult workers of the Church of God who formed the collective of members known as the Work Mission (WM) . As hosts Giselle and Jacob from Torrance WM explained, the goal of the 1,042 work missions established worldwide is to share the love of God with all 3.7 billion workers across the globe.
Korrine, one of the event coordinators for the LA WM, spoke of the meaningful motivation behind the day’s event, “Work can be so stressful. Bills and other aspects of life can be so stressful, so we wanted to invite our coworkers to experience some measure of peace in the midst of it all.”
They gathered in the Church of God of Torrance, from the Church of God of Burbank, Hollywood, Van Nuys, and Reseda, to name a few. About 75 members and their guests arrived, being greeted warmly by ushers. Pink cherry blossoms in aqua vases adorned each table, a calming color palette, as even the smallest of details were considered.
A member of the LA WM, Andres, served as the day’s art instructor. He calmly led the group, painting and delivering pointers, as his guidance was live cast over several screens. When tranquil expressions came over the faces of the guests and shoulders dropped in relaxation, it was clear that the sentiment of the Torrance WM in collaboration with the LA WM group could be felt.
Delivering the Love, Joy and Peace in God the Father and God the Mother
Korrine continued, “To share the comfort and ease we have experienced from God the Father and God the Mother, to give them even a piece of that, we are happy and honored to do this.”
“If people are saved, they can know this joy and peace that we have received, and they can experience it forever,” said Giselle.
Indeed, faith in God the Father and God the Mother, who have come in the flesh to save us, spurs the members toward love and good deeds. Heavenly Mother sets the example by taking the initiative in every volunteer activity and those who follow Her do the same (Rev 21:9-10, John 13:15).
Along with partnering with worldwide preeminent organizations such as the United Nations, and receiving awards and orders of merit from leaders worldwide, the Church of God does not neglect showing love even to each person individually.
After the painting session, guests shared their works, amidst claps and even some heartfelt laughs. Hosts lovingly extended an invitation to future events.
The Spirit and the Bride earnestly call all mankind to receive the peace that extends like a river forever (Rev 22:17, Isa 66:12-13). Longing for the day that all heavenly family responds to Their invitation, the World Mission Society Church of God will continue to open its arms to the world.
