ASEZ WAO volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God in Cerritos, Los Angeles, Orange County, and Torrance came together on Sunday, November 17th to host a Beautification Project & Park Cleanup at Riverview Park in Bellflower. A total of 150 volunteers participated in the beautification project with enthusiasm and excitement to bring Mother’s love to the community. With the mind of Mother, ASEZ WAO volunteers fully embraced the idea that “We Are One” family and were eager to show sincere love to all humankind, starting with their local communities.

First, volunteers spanned the entire park to pick up any litter and plastic waste products that not only hindered the park’s aesthetics, but also posed a threat to the environment’s sustainability. Since the park was often frequented by residents and visitors, and was also inconsistently maintained, the area was susceptible to trash buildup. Thanks to God’s grace and united efforts, 60 bags of trash were collected.

Bellflower Park beautification

In addition to cleaning the area, the ASEZ WAO volunteers worked in collaboration with the City of Bellflower Parks & Recreation Department, who provided the sod and plants to properly beautify the area. The volunteers joyfully took action to properly till the soil beds, lay the sod, and plant various kinds of plants and seedlings. Overall, 880 square feet of sodding was laid and 500 plants were planted in the former desolate space.

While the volunteers enthusiastically cleaned and beautified the park with bright smiles, local residents and passers-by expressed their gratitude for their efforts and shared how the renovated space created a happier and welcoming environment for all. Not only did the park look more inviting, but it also promoted a safe environment for people of all ages to enjoy.

60 years of Volunteerism

The year 2024 is the “Diamond Year” for the Church of God and is also a special milestone to celebrate not only 60 years since the establishment of the church, but also 60 years of dedicated volunteerism to embrace the global community with the heart of Mother. Volunteers of the Church of God genuinely follow the example of Christ to give love to our neighbors. They do so by carrying out numerous humanitarian efforts that aim to achieve the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to spread happiness to all humankind with Mother’s love. We give thanks to our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother for allowing us to beautify our local communities by planting seedlings of Mother’s love that bring warmth and hope to all.
