November 24, 2024 (Tucson, Arizona) — On Sunday, November 24, ASEZ WAO volunteers, the young adult volunteer group of the World Mission Society Church of God, organized a community clean-up along South Columbus Boulevard and Irving Avenue in Tucson, Arizona. The event, held in partnership with the City of Tucson, was part of ASEZ WAO’s global Green Earth movement, which aims to protect the environment and improve communities worldwide.

A total of 128 volunteers participated in the event and they collected approximately 300 pounds of trash in just two hours.

Volunteers of ASEZ WAO praised

Volunteers gathered early in the morning, united by their shared mission to beautify the neighborhood for local residents. Working together in harmony, the group collected litter, cleared debris, and restored the area’s natural beauty. Their collective efforts not only improved the aesthetics of the neighborhood but also created a more welcoming environment for the community.

The cleanup took place alongside S. Columbus Boulevard and Irving Avenue as well as along 1st St., which is a busier area. As the volunteers were picking up trash, local residents even rolled down their windows and said “Thank you,” expressing their gratitude for keeping the community clean.

Giving thanks to Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother, the volunteers were overjoyed with the transformation in the end. Local residents expressed gratitude for the group’s efforts, which helped create a cleaner and safer community.

The Church even had the privilege of presenting the 2024 Presidential Volunteer Service Award during the event, and Vice Mayor Kevin Dahl expressed his gratitude for the Church’s eager participation and work around the community.

“It’s amazing that you were recognized by the President of the United States for the many cleanups you do across the country,” Dahl stated. “I’m really happy that the church is in Tucson, in my ward, and that the church is doing this.”

ASEZ WAO – Worldwide environmental campaign

The clean-up in Tucson is part of ASEZ WAO’s broader environmental campaign, which has seen volunteers organize clean-up events in over 30 countries. To date, ASEZ WAO has mobilized nearly 30,000 volunteers worldwide who have collected over 106,000 kilograms of trash from streets, parks, and urban spaces. These efforts reflect the group’s core values of love and service, which are inspired by the biblical teaching, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

In addition, ASEZ WAO’s motto, “All humans are one,” reflects its belief in global unity and shared responsibility. Through their volunteer projects, the group seeks to foster a sense of collective responsibility for the planet and its inhabitants. Whether addressing environmental issues or social challenges, ASEZ WAO strives to embody the selfless love and compassion that are central to the teachings of the World Mission Society Church of God.

As ASEZ WAO continues to organize similar projects around the world, the group’s message of unity, service, and environmental responsibility continues to resonate with people everywhere.
