Las Vegas, NV – February 9, 2025 – 105 members of ASEZ gathered with a shared vision for a cleaner, more sustainable planet. World Mission Society Church of God’s university student volunteer group, ASEZ, gathered at Douglas A. Selby Park & Trailhead in Las Vegas for the ASEZ Zero Plastic 2040 Volunteer Service. They were joined by nine guests and two Police Marshal Deputies from the City of Las Vegas, who witnessed the impactful service.

Combating Plastic Waste Through Collective Action
The event was part of ASEZ’s Zero Plastic 2040 campaign, a global initiative aimed at reducing plastic pollution. So, from October 2024 to March 2025, ASEZ volunteers around the world have been rolling up their sleeves to fight plastic waste and promote environmental sustainability. The Las Vegas event was particularly special, as it included the collaboration of six visiting university students from South Korea. This demonstrated international solidarity in the fight against plastic pollution.
Making a Tangible Impact
Throughout the morning volunteers worked diligently collecting and removing an impressive 757 pounds of plastic waste and trash from the park and its surrounding trails. This effort significantly enhanced the cleanliness and safety of the park, benefiting the many families, children, and residents who frequent the area.

By restoring the park’s natural beauty, ASEZ volunteers helped create a safer and more pleasant environment for the local community. Their service also served as a powerful reminder of the need for ongoing efforts toward sustainability.
Partnerships and Support
The City of Las Vegas Neighborhood Services partnered with ASEZ for this event. Thus highlighting the importance of collaboration between local organizations and community groups in tackling environmental issues. The presence of the Police Marshal Deputies also underscored the event’s community significance. As they recognized the volunteers’ contribution to keeping Las Vegas clean and beautiful.

A Commitment to a Plastic-Free World
The ASEZ Zero Plastic 2040 campaign is more than a local effort—it’s a global movement. ASEZ members strive to inspire individuals and communities worldwide to take meaningful action toward a sustainable future. One of the ways is by promoting plastic reduction and responsible waste management.
Through their dedicated volunteer service, ASEZ members in Las Vegas demonstrated that small, consistent efforts can lead to profound and lasting change—one park, one city, and one step closer to a plastic-free world.
