San Diego (July 27, 2025) – On Sunday, July 27, students from the World Mission Society Church of God came together to remove graffiti and beautify Central Avenue Park in San Diego. The volunteer work was carried out by the church’s international student volunteer group, ASEZ STAR, which stands for Save the Earth from A to Z and Students Take Action Right now.
Over 50 middle and high school students from Church of God locations in San Diego, Santee, Chula Vista, Mira Mesa, and Escondido united to help clean the local community park. Teachers, parents, park staff, and representatives from the office of US Congressman Juan Vargas and the San Diego City Council were also in attendance.

ASEZ STAR Green World Project
The group held the clean up as a part of the Green World Project, which aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation and implement practical activities, such as cleaning and beautifying parks, to enhance local community environments.

Central Avenue Park is located in the middle of three Church of God buildings. Many neighbors and families attend the small community park to enjoy its playground and skate park. There is also a walking bridge that goes over Interstate 15 and has high foot traffic.
Since the area has many visitors, the youth group wanted to show God’s love to the community by beautifying the park. All the volunteers worked hard painting fences and railings. They were also able to improve the landscape by spreading mulch in the surrounding areas.
Students Shining God’s Light
Wherever God’s children are, God’s light and love shine bright. God’s light was shone brightly through the united efforts of the student volunteers in San Diego.
ASEZ STAR will receive a letter of recognition from Congressman Vargas, as well as a city-wide proclamation from the San Diego Council members.
Three news stations, including FOX 5 and KUSI, covered the gracious event. A student volunteer, Jayden, was interviewed on the news. He states, “As ASEZ STAR members, our goal is to set a good example, especially the youth in our community. So seeing all the people come by congratulating us and giving compliments, it makes us feel we’re fulfilling our mission and duty.”

Many onlookers acknowledged the student group through positive words and compliments on their hard work. One neighbor spoke with student volunteer, Aalaia, who explained about the Church of God volunteer group coming to help the community. The neighbor replied, “… this is amazing work! As a neighbor of this community I want to thank you for making the park better.” Aalaia expressed thanks to God for making the clean up possible.
ASEZ STAR will continue to shine Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother’s light through their good deeds and actions.
