Hunger and food instability is a global issue and even the 2nd of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. With this in mind, the World Mission Society Church of God in San Diego, California, held its annual food drive. The food drive was hosted on Sunday, February 26, 2023, by ASEZ WAO, the church’s young adult volunteer activity group. ASEZ WAO stands for “Saving the Earth from A to Z, We Are One Family!”

According to the local food bank, Feeding San Diego, 330,000 people in San Diego are under food instability. The Church of God wanted to hold this food drive in effort to provide food for those in need within our community.

The food drive was held at the church in which members and neighbors could drive by and drop off food donations. The most needed items were canned goods, grains, cereals, and other non-perishable items. The members had great enthusiasm and encouragement that day! They were ready to unload the food donations, organize and package them to send off to the food bank! They created such a positive environment for a positive cause!

In total, about 100 boxes of donations were collected which amounted to about 2,500 pounds! The CEO of Feeding San Diego shared kind words about the Church of God food drive. He thanked the church and Heavenly Mother for holding this kind of event and taking the lead for this cause. The love of God overflows in the Church of God and we want to spread it to our neighbors and around the world by carrying out these volunteer events even in our local communities!
