Under God’s grace, the Church of God in San Diego held the Academic Opening Year Worship for International Student Bible Academy, ISBA, members on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023. The gathering consisted of 40 student group members of the church together with their parents and church teachers. The pastoral staff and pre-theological students joined in support of the ISBA mission.

The Opening Worship was a gracious time to be refreshed with the word of God for the upcoming school year. They offered thanks to God for allowing them, even the youngest members to actively participate in displaying God’s glory at their schools. Through the worship, the students were invigorated and filled with excitement and passion to begin the new school year following God the Father and God the Mother all the more.

There were many videos prepared for the students to learn more about ISBA activities. There were videos regarding education and volunteerism, and the characteristics they should have as children of God. Among the six videos, one contained a series of interviews with many ISBA members and their experiences of sharing about their church and faith with their friends and teachers.

Encouraged by Overseas ISBA Clubs

By hearing about other ISBA members around the world, the ISBA members in San Diego were reminded that they are not alone, but they are doing the gospel all over the world together. At their age, the connection they have with their peers is very important to them. By watching the videos, they gained new confidence to share their faith with them.

Through the videos, I realized through unity we can do anything.

Jayden Young, ISBA student

Through the videos we also saw many great examples of ISBA clubs in Korea and in other countries. The Philippines and Denver carried out great exemplary work of the gospel. The members in San Diego wanted to carry out the same work when they go back to school this year!

Just like in Korea, they were able to share with their whole student body and their teachers. I want to do that here.

Naoki Douglas, ISBA student

Though ISBA began just one year ago, the student members have been filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit. They eagerly want to carry out the mission of the gospel even at their schools. They are rising up and surprising the world with their good deeds just as God commanded us to be the salt and light of the world!
