Sunland, CA (March 30, 2025) — In a powerful display of unity and compassion, members of the Church of God in Sunland and Pasadena joined together for the 1611th Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover. Held at the Church of God in Sunland, this life-saving event welcomed over 80 participants from around Southern California.
Following God’s Example
The blood drive was held in partnership with Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. This organized effort aimed to save lives and express love for mankind. Participants donated blood with a shared purpose: to follow in the footsteps of Christ, who gave His blood for the salvation of souls. In carrying out this blood drive, the Church of God seeks to reflect God’s example through acts of service, bringing hope and healing to others.
“We are one in this global village,” said a local church representative. “Just as God gave us the blessing of eternal life through the New Covenant Passover, we strive to give life through our blood donations.”
Significant Impacts
The blood donations will benefit individuals suffering from a range of conditions such as anemia, sickle cell disease, kidney failure, surgical complications, childbirth, and traumatic injuries. These donations are especially crucial for hospitals like Huntington Memorial, which houses the San Gabriel Valley’s largest emergency department and is a level II trauma center. In 2024 alone, the hospital treated over 77,000 patients in its ER, many requiring immediate blood transfusions to survive.
Nurses from Huntington Memorial praised the church’s continued support and hospitality. “We love coming back here, you guys are always warm-hearted and welcoming,” said Brenda, one of the attending nurses. Her colleague Colleen added, “Thank you for calling us back for a blood drive again. The members are all hospitable.”
Just before the blood drive concluded, volunteers were honored with a Certificate of Recognition for their commitment to volunteer service. The award served as a reinforcement of the Church’s dedication to righteous deeds and community engagement.
