Garden Grove, CA – In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week, ASEZ STAR hosted a “Gratitude Campaign Seminar” on Wednesday, May 7 at the Church of God in Garden Grove. The event brought together around 60 participants, including approximately 25 students, from various ASEZ STAR chapters across Orange County, Cerritos, and Temecula.

ASEZ STAR Filial piety & gratitude

The seminar was part of ASEZ STAR’s month-long initiative highlighting filial piety and gratitude. The primary goal was to recognize the invaluable contributions of educators and help students better understand the importance of expressing thanks to those who guide and support their academic journeys.

The event honored teachers from the Anaheim Unified and ABC school districts as well as, the University of California, Irvine. Attendees enjoyed a thoughtful presentation, which emphasized that gratitude is not only essential for strong student-teacher relationships but also a key to personal happiness and fulfillment. Guests were also treated to a choir performance by ASEZ STAR participants. The evening concluded with attendees being invited to write thank-you notes to teachers whom they wanted to show their appreciation.

Teachers react to heartfelt messages

Dr. Alexandra Pantano from UCI remarked to the students’ gifts, “As a teacher, we really, really appreciate you. You’re the reason we love our jobs.” Her heartfelt message captured the emotional connection between educators and students when gratitude is openly shared.

Jessica Ingles from Maywood Center for Enriched Studies also praised the students involved in ASEZ STAR, stating, “The ASEZ STAR students are really mature students… they bring joy.”

The seminar successfully filled participants with a renewed sense of community and appreciation. Teachers left feeling encouraged and valued, while students gained a deeper understanding of how simple gestures of gratitude can uplift and inspire.

Through this seminar, ASEZ STAR demonstrated its commitment to building a more respectful and compassionate society—one in which appreciation is expressed openly and the efforts of educators are never taken for granted.
