A “seal” is a stamp inscribed with the name of an individual or organization as a tool to serve as proof of identity and authentication. The seal of God is the stamp of God.
Throughout all ages, God has put His seal on those whom He approves. According to this will of God, there are the seal of apostleship and the seal of righteousness by faith. Receiving the Holy Spirit is also a deposit guaranteeing that we are sealed by God(1 Co 9:2, Ro 4:11, 2 Co 1:22).
The sealing work of God occurs in this age, too. However, it is different than before. The seal of God which we must receive now is the sign of redemption by which we can be saved from the last disaster.
God’s sealing work
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”
Rev 7:1-3
In the Bible, wind represents war (Jer 4:11). The four winds of the earth, which the four angels with power to harm the land and the sea are holding back, represent a world war that will break out in all four corners of the earth—throughout the whole world.
God has commanded the angels to hold back the four winds until the seal of God is placed on the foreheads of God’s people, so that they can be saved from tremendous disasters coming upon this earth. When the sealing work is finished, the four winds which the angels are holding back, standing at the four corners of the earth, will be released and those who do not have the seal of God will not be able to escape the disaster that harms the land and the sea.
The beginning of God’s sealing work
In human history, there have been two world wars. The wind prophesied in Revelation 7 is the Second World War. This is proved by the words of the prophecy about the event which occurred while the four winds of the earth were blowing—before the angels were commanded to hold back the four winds of the earth.
I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.
Rev 6:12-13
The stars in the sky and figs refer to the people of Israel (Ge 15:5, Lk 13:7).
“The stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.” This means that a large number of Jews were killed in a great war. During World War II, 6,000,000 Jews were massacred by the Nazis.
God’s sealing work is to begin after the angels hold back the four winds of the earth. Since 1945 when the Second World War came to an end, the sealing work started. So we are now living in a very important age when we must receive the seal of God which will enable us to escape the last disaster.
The way to receive the seal of God
The seal of God is given to us in a special way.
“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
Jn 6:27
God has made Jesus’ body His seal. In order to receive the seal of God, we must become one body with Jesus, who is the seal of God.
Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.”
Jn 6:53-56
Those who eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood come to remain in Jesus, and Jesus in them. If we become one body with Jesus, we automatically come to receive God’s seal, which Jesus received. Jesus’ flesh and blood, which we must eat and drink to receive the seal of God, are given to us through the bread and wine of the Passover.
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’ ” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. … While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
Mt 26:17-19, 26-28
Those who partake of the bread and wine of the Passover, which represent the flesh and blood of Jesus, are the people who have the seal of God. Ultimately, the Passover is the seal of God, which will enable us to escape the last disaster.
The Passover─the seal of God─by which we can escape disasters
As we can see through the name “Passover,” God has appointed the Passover as the truth by which disasters pass over us.
“The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. … This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD’s Passover. On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn—both men and animals—and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt. This is a day you are to commemorate; for the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the LORD—a lasting ordinance.”
Ex 12:5-14
At the time of Moses, when God brought a great disaster upon Egypt—the killing of all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, the disaster passed over the houses of the Israelites who kept the Passover, but all the houses of the Egyptians who did not keep it suffered the disaster.
This occurred as a result of God’s promise to the Israelites; God had promised that the blood of the Passover lamb would be a sign for them and that He would pass over them when He saw the blood, so that no destructive plague would touch them. The promise of God, contained in the Passover, did not expire after the time of the Exodus but was applied equally to God’s people in each and every age (2 Ch 30:1, 2 Ki 19:30-35).
The reality of the Passover lamb in the Old Testament is Jesus (1 Co 5:7). Just as the blood of the Passover lamb became a sign for the Israelites so that no destructive plague would touch them, so the blood of Jesus the Passover Lamb—which He shed on the cross—becomes a sign for God’s people to be saved in this age so that disasters will pass over them.
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
1 Pe 1:18-19
The seal of God which the whole world is waiting for
All history in the Bible is written to teach us (Ro 15:4). The Israelites escaped the plagues by celebrating the Passover in Egypt, and afterwards they were also saved through the Passover. These historical events show that when the four winds of the earth are released we can be saved only by keeping the Passover. Those who have the mark of redemption which the destroying angel can see when the disasters come upon the earth are the ones who have the seal of God by keeping the Passover.
… and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.” As I listened, he said to the others, “Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. Slaughter old men, young men and maidens, women and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.
Eze 9:4-6
Without receiving the seal of God, the mark of redemption from disasters, no one can escape disasters.
Now God is in a hurry to put His seal on His people to deliver them on the day of the last disaster. At this urgent time, let us celebrate the Passover to receive the seal of God and preach this good news of salvation quickly to those who are trembling in fear of disasters.
